LASIK eye surgery in Los Angeles is a very popular refractive procedure that provides excellent vision for most patients. This is a TOP vision correction procedure for Florida LASIK surgeons and eye surgeons all over the world. LASIK eye surgery combines the precision of an excimer laser with the benefit of a sophisticated surgical instrument known as a microkeratome. Please note that Laser Vision Medical Associates provides every type of LASIK eye surgery including conventional LASIK with a microkeratome, Bladeless LASIK done with the Intralase femtosecond laser and Custom LASIK using wavefront guided technology that enables a custom cornea style treatment.

The procedures we can perform at this center include:

  • “All-Laser” LASIK Surgery
  • Laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK)
  • Wavefront based LASIK or PRK
  • Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK)
  • Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)
  • Clear lens extraction (CLE)
  • Phakic intraocular lenses (PIOL)
  • Optimal Keratoplasty for low hyperopia

Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) Alegretto Wave Eye-Q Laser or the VISX Laser system involves creating a precise thin superficial flap with the Intralase femtosecond laser. The flap is raised, and an ablation is performed to reshape the cornea with the aid of an eye tracker with the excimer laser, centered on the pupillary area. The flap is then replaced without sutures. The entire procedure is performed under topical anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.

The LASIK procedure

The process of LASIK surgery is accomplished in a few short steps. A local anesthetic is first applied to the eye(s). A thin flap is then carefully created on the surface of the cornea, using a highly precise instrument called IntraLase® or a microkeratome. The flap is pulled back, revealing the middle section of the cornea. A cool ultraviolet light beam, produced by our VISX S4™ laser, is then applied, removing tiny portions of the cornea in an effort to reshape it and improve visual acuity.

Following LASIK surgery, patients usually experience a rapid recovery due to the fact that only a tiny portion of the eye is actually operated on. Most of our patients are able to drive themselves back to our facility the day following their surgery to meet with Dr. Salz.
